The Road (2006) by Cormac McCarthy

A Brilliant Book by the Best

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

By far The Road (2006) is Cormac McCarthy‘s most gripping novel to date, and worthy of its Pulitzer Prize in Fiction.

Despite not having character names (only one appears and it is false, Ely) and despite having no chapter breaks — instead the narrative broken down into unindented, short paragraphs, the novel reads with ease and the writing keeps the pages turning as the reader hopes the man and his son may find solace for at least one night within the wasteland they so wearily travel.
